We went on our FIRST TRIP here in Japan at the beginning of this month. It was part of a tour package through our base so we didn't have to worry about anything (toll roads, gas, parking, entrance fees, getting lost, etc.). The kids weren't really excited about the temples, pagodas, & shrines, but they still managed to have a great time throwing rocks, trying to play with turtles, climbing a light house, acting like statues, and entertaining the Japanese people.

Here we are all geared up and ready to hike to the top of the big hill to see the shrines.
But wait...they have escalators (3 big long ones)...heck yeah!!! Call us wimps, but it sure beat carrying both the kids up hundreds and hundreds of stairs
The kids had a blast trying to grab turtles and throw rocks in the water.
Jayden thought this "crazy red guy with a strange ball like 6-pack" was pretty cool.

People kept taking pictures of Tia and touching her pig tails. Tia was eating it up and performing for all of them. Shane and I couldn't stop laughing.
The older Japanese ladies absolutely loved her! They would come right up to her and hold her. As we were crossing the street this lady thought I wasn't doing a good enough job helping Tia by myself so she just walked right up, grabbed her other hand, and walked with us. I love the Japanese...they are so cute!

i hear you on the picture taking. someday when i get out there i would not be surprised to pictures of my kids. everywhere er go they get their pictures taken. we went to zions last week and they were taking pictures of ady like crazy! and ady just stood there saying "cheese" over and over.
Tempting! I am trying to convince Brian that we HAVE to visit you guys before you leave!!! It looks like so much fun =) Miss you guys!
That looks like a super fun trip! This is margo (travis' sister...old mtc friend)! Anyway, glad you were able to make the trip.
ahhh heck, i can't believe that you iz in japan! you lucky little man you. can we come visit ya? please? we'll be nice, and we'll be fun!!! we'll start saving up right now if you say yes.
