Shane's Trip to Hiroshima & Miyajima

Shane recently had a Leadership Conference in Southern Japan where all the Veterinary Corps Officers from all over the island gathered for a week. The last day of the conference they all took a train into Hiroshima to visit the Peace Memorial Park. He said it was a very humbling and solemn experience but definitely worth visiting!

This is one of the few buildings that survived the bomb.
It is now called the "Atomic Bomb Dome."

After Hiroshima he went to the nearby island of Miyajima where the famous floating Great Torii of Miyajima Itsukushima Shrine resides.
The Shrine.

On the island was a herd of deer that were quite friendly.

What a neat trip! We just had a mission reunion and missed your family! But those who didn't know you were in Japan were excied to hear that you are there, and jealous too!! Looks like we might be coming over when they finish the Japan, Sapporo Temple for the dedication!! We just might make it over to japan afterall!!
